On September 1, 2011 Alberta launches its distracted driver legislation making it an offence to:

• texting or emailing or BBS
• Reading the newspaper or any other printed (who uses this anymore?) materials
• writing, printing, or sketching
• personal grooming and
• eating

In order to comply completely with the legislation your vehicle MUST BE off the roadway or legally parked in order to use any electronic device, use your cell phone, text or send emails. It is NOT ENOUGH to be stopped at a red light to quickly jot a note or two off.
